Ron Weasley

Ron Weasley

My beloved Ron Weasley.

I love this doll so much. He is made from a gorgeous free pattern from Rag Doll Room.

Ron Weasley is my fictional underage boyfriend. He is one in a long line of fictional boyfriends, including but not limited to Mr. Darcy and Jamie Fraser.
Ron is the only underage one though, thank goodness.

Close upIsn't he lovely?

What we know about Ron from the books is that he's tall and gangly, long nose, freckles, bright red hair.
I've scoured and couldn't find any reference to his eye color so I made an excutive decision with the blue.

We know Harry's eyes are green and I've always assumed Hermione's were brown (don't remember if I read that or imagined it). Green eyes and red hair, while stunning, have just been so done before. Also, I'm pretty sure that Rupert Grint has blue eyes.
Not that I've been ransacking the internet for pictures of him, or anything. Ahem.

This monkey's gone to heaven

His pj pants are actually too short, but as he's a rag doll, he has no hips, and they always ride down.
I made them short because it's always being referenced how fast he outgrows his clothes.
Also, I love the part in Goblet of Fire, where Harry's talking to Sirius in the fireplace, and Ron accidentally interupts him. Harry is so angry in general about his and Ron's row, and then in particular about not being able to get an answer about the dragons, that poor Ron's too-short jammy pants just sends him into a fit of rage and he chucks a badge at Ron's head.

Ron's sweater in progress

Here's a pic of his sweater in progress. It's made from the bottom-up raglan style. I learned how to make this sort of sweater from Elizabeth Zimmermann's book Knitting Without Tears. It's one of my favorite knitting books.
You'll want to notice his buff arms. My little boy said "nice guns" when Ron was first finished, but lying around naked. Since I hate sewing.
I have this fantasy of making him a lovely little Hogwart's robe and a cute little button down shirt and tie, and some pants that can be worn outside, but that day hasn't come yet.
