First Sock

The Dylan and Kelly, TLF sock.

Done!

This is my first ever sock, and I'm quite pleased with it!
You can find the pattern here.
I'm working on a cardigan that probably won't be finished until November and I really wanted some instant gratification. (Well, as instant as you'll get with knitting. It's funny to me how "eight hours" can mean instant to so many.)

I chose this pattern because it's pretty, seemed straightforward enough, and also because I had the size 6 needles and wool-ease, so I could start right away.
Wool-ease. My arch-nemesis.  Why do I have so much of it, and in such ugly colors? Probably because it's cheap, and it only comes in ugly colors. You can't walk past it without it splitting, and it isn't very soft. This pale grey is the only ball I had that hadn't been partially used, which is how it was chosen for the socks.

Anyway, one of the things I enjoy the most about knitting is slavishly following the pattern. I got through the lace rounds without much trouble, and turning the heel was probably the most fun I've had in a while. (The next sock pattern in my queue has an "afterthought" heel so we'll see if that's as fun.)

When I was working on the part below the heel I was watching a 90210 episode and it was the one where Dylan and Kelly realize their love can no longer be denied, and they decide to tell Brenda the whole truth.
I used to really like those two together, so I was paying more attention to the tv than the sock and ended up following the toe decrease directions for several rounds. It looks just fine though, and fits all right (I ended up with only five fewer stitches), so I just have to remember what I did for the next one.

Yay, they're finally done!  It took me a good while to get to that second one.   Kelly is now firmly with Brandon and poor Dylan is trying to locate his missing fortune now that he's off drugs and out of that coma.

Glamour shot

Now, I'm working on two-at-once toe-up socks on two circs, and I don't really like them. There's something to be said for the when I'm done, I'll be done.  But, I actually like working with dpns.  We'll see.
